New Chauncey Historic Neighborhood is found in between Lafayette and West Lafayette. Inside the community is a collection of homes from the late 1800s and the early 1900s. While walking through the neighborhood, architectural styles, such as Victorian, Queen Anne, Tudor and Colonial Revival, can be seen. More than 600 historic homes are found in this neighborhood, as well as playgrounds and parks. While the area almost fell into irreparable destruction, residents began a revitalization process in the 1970s that continues today. Historic Centennial Neighborhood Just north of Lafayette's commercial district, sits the Historic Centennial Neighborhood. Established in 1825, this section of the city grew rapidly in the mid-1800s with the arrival of the railroad. Many of the original homes can be seen on walking tours of the neighborhood, representing Italianate-, Revival- and Gothic-style homes and buildings. Highland Park Historic Neighborhood Between 1892 and 1945, 240 homes were constructed in the Highland Park Neighborhood. Close to the city center, this area features preserved examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival and Prairie Style houses.
